with first place in the Scottish Karate Championships, in her own
style, and
by taking bronze in the all styles at the same event. "The highlight off the day for the club came in the open disabled category. Linzi McCann, who won silver at last year's British Championships, excelled herself this time by taking gold in this prestigious international event. "Linzi, who is 60 per cent blind, had to take on once again adult competitors and yet again overcame all adversaries with polish and style. "This
has added to her fantastic awards

BURGLARY LEAVES HOSPITAL![]() (Caption): Johannes Alder (centre) was knifed in a burglary By Martial News Reporter A FIVE-times British Sombo champion knifed while defending his wife from burglars has left hospital following life saving treatment. Johannes Alder, 37, originally from Norway but living in Paisley, Glasgow, was left in a critical condition after grappling with the two burglars at his home at 5am in the morning. Not only was he stabbed his wife Elizabeth, 38, also suffered a severe cut to her wrist as she woke up to confront the two thugs. Still hald asleep Johannes had went to rescue his wife and was stabbed in the head and body. Strathclyde

"Two men broke in and made their way upstairs. The lady got out of bed
and
went into the hall where she saw the men. "She
screamed and this woke her husband who ran to her assistance. Johannes had grabbed one of the burglars and was first stabbed by his accomplice and again by the other. He suffered several penetration wounds. His wife fleed into the street screaming for some one to 'phone the police' as the thugs made their getaway as. * Two youths have appeared at Paisley Sheriff Court charged with attempted murder and assault to severe injury and theft. Both were remanded in custody to appear at a later date.

CHAMPIONSHIP CANCEL SHOW
By Luke Robbins THE Optimus Fighting Championship has been cancelled its MMA and Kickboxing show at the Metro Radio Arena. Titled the Second Surge, it was the second show that the company behind the OFC had held at the Arena, Newcastle. It was to be held on Saturday, July 31st and headlined Scott Rogan against Eddie Ng as well as a open weight competition for £10,000. The company issued the following statement: "It is with great regret that Optimus FC has had to cancel its scheduled event for the 31st of July 2010. "Due to circumstances beyond our control, the management of Optimus FC has made a decision to cancel the end of month MMA event. "We are truly sorry to all of our fighters - those of which who have not let us down-, staff and fans involved who were all to participate in this event, but due to so many injuries and pull outs we have had to make a very difficult decision over the past week to delay the show. "A lot of the reasons behind the cancelation for the event have been out of our control, but with one of our Headline fighters Scott Rogan deciding he was unfit to fight Eddie Ng. "Once again, we did not want a repeat of the Dan 'The Beast' Severn Scenario, which again was out of our control. "Again we thank our fighters, staff and vendors that were scheduled to participate on the 31st of July event. "We will be offering full refunds to anyone who has purchased a ticket to the event, through fighters, Ticket Master or the Metro Radio Arena Box Office. "Again, we sincerely apologise to all of our dedicated fighters, fans, vendors and staff - we will however be returning for future shows later in the year." ++++JUNE SECOND

LEAGUE'S FIGHT CARD
THE Northern Fight League has released its fight card for its next show, Independence. The fight extravaganza is being held at Newcastle University's Student Society building at the campus on Saturday, July 4th. Headlining the show is Steve Fenwick, fighting out of the the Hebburn Heavy Hitters, who takes on Phil Flynn of the Predators MMA club. They will clash for the NFL's Welterweight title. Craig Jose, NFL director, said: "This is going to be a great fight as Steve beat phil the last time they met and with Phil defending his welterweigt title this has given him a double reason for wanting to win. "We also have pro fighters Mark Platts, fighting out of the Faktory, taking on James Martin from Team Asylum. "Mark has just returned from a good fight in Spain and is raring to get into the cage against Martin. "But its going to be a very hard fight as Martin is an excellent MMA fighter so it could go either way as they are both outstanding athletes. "Tommy Quiin taking on Anth Barker, and in the league, Lewis Cassi who will be facing Ryan Kelly in the lightweight division and Kaffri, from the Faktory, who will be fighting Daniel Wallace from the Predators." Fighting at amateur are Ashe Mohammad, from the Fighters Hive. He is fighting Chris Purvis from the Felling Warriors. Danny Baker, Cyclone MMA, versus Johnney Baily, and Ian Fenwick, the Faktory, who will be fighting Seam McDonald, from the Fighters Hive, and Aaron, from the Felling warriors will be facing Alex Vasey from Cyclone MMA. The NFL is still looking for match-ups for Pro fight against Andy Ogle, from Team Yasamatsu, Calum Mather, the Faktory, at amateur and also Sarah Cotterill, also from the Faktory.
