JU-JITSU BOXER JAIL FOR
RESISTING ARREST AND ASSAULT A MAN who resisted arrest and assaulted a police officer has been jailed. Richard Spear, 27, of Kansas, had been pulled over by police in his vehicle and had failed a roadside sobriety test. He attempted to run from the scene and during pursuit took a swing at an officer. Resisting arrest, the police officer fired a Taser at him, but only him with one of the teo prongs which discharge the electric shock. A police statement said: "When asked later, Spear said that if the officer had not had a Taser, he would have 'defended himself' more since he was trained in jujitsu and boxing." He was sentenced for resisting arrest, third degree assault of an officer and driving while intoxicated. His three sentences of six
months each are
to run concurrently. He could be eligible for parole in 60 days. |
