STEVEN SEAGAL
SEX CASE DROPPED By
Martial News Reporter THE
sexual harassment case made against action-star Steve Seagal has been
dropped. The
movie celebrity and Aikido expert had been accused by his personal
assistant Kayden Nguyen of trafficking women and sexually abuse. She
was claiming $1m (£650,000) damages
from the star whose credits include Under Siege, Nico and Flight of
Fury. The
actor denied all allegations and his lawyers dismissed them as
"ridiculous and absurd". Seagal,
58, saw his reality show Steven Seagal Lawman suspended while the case
unfolded. The
star worked alongside Sheriff Newell Normand as a deputy in Louisana. Its
not known if the show will be resurrected since the case has been
thrown out of the courts. No
reason has been given for the case dismissa and lawyers for
both Seagal and Nguyen have yet to comment. "Mostly
these incidents people who have been drinking and get into arguments
with other
passengers or our staff and then they become violent." The
main
area for violence is in the capital Tokyo and surrounding areas, which
has been hit hard by the global economic down turn. Because
East Japan Railways are the main train operator for the area this has
seen their figures rise to 344, or 39.5 per cent of the national total. To
combat
the growing menace of violence against their staff, the train operators
are teaching staff martial arts, including traditional restraining
weapons such sasumata - a pole with a u-shaped metal head that can be
used to pin a person down or entangle them. Fermale
staff members have also been armed with pepper spray. By Martial News Reporter A KARATE instructor has been accused of sexually assaulting a woman. Haskell Williamson, 36, of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, US, a 5th Dan black belt, is alleged to have attacked the woman outside a bar in West Tulsa and attempted to rape her. Officer Clay Asbill, of Tulsa Police Sex Crimes unit, said: "I think he just stepped up before she closed the door and attacked her and punched her in the face and began attacking her. She was telling him that she had kids also had a husband and told him 'please not to do this' while he was sexually assaulting her." Police said he tried to rape the woman in the attack in April. Bouncers at the bar searched for the suspect but didn't find anyone. According to police, they later found Williamson hiding under a bed at his parent's house. Williamson was an instructor at the Dragon's Den Karate club, held at a church in Sapulpa. The club has since closed down. He is also suspewcted of being involved in a burglary in 2008 after police found DNA which they say matches his on a mannequin in a shop selling Halloween items. Although the
club and church have no connections, seniors at the church told
Williamson at the time of the burglary investigation was launched that
they did not want him teaching there.
The church has
said anyone using their premises will no have to go through background
checks before they will allow their facilities to be used. This
includes church members running classes.
Williamson is charged with Rape by Instrumentation. He has been placed on remand in Tulsa County Jail. ++++MAY SECOND EDITION ++++ TAEKWONDO INSTRUCTOR CLEARED OF
MOLESTATION
By Martial News Reporter A TAEKWONDO
instructor accused of molesting a teenager has had the charges dropped.
Joseph Lavigne was facing sexual battery charges after being accused by a relative of his girlfriend. The instructor, of Desert Hot Springs, California, US, faced two felony charges of sexual battery and five misdemeanor counts of child molestation. But the charges were dropped after detectives decided there wasn't enough evidence to prosectute because the girl kept changing her story. Michael Jeandron, the District Attorney's spokesman, said: "We just didn't have the evidence that we needed to be able to prove this case to a jury beyond a reasonable doubt." Lavigne saw all charges against him dropped. The case was stopped by prosecutors after Lavigne's preliminary hearing where Judge Jeffrey Gunther ruled there was sufficient evidence to proceed to trial. Denise Shaw, Lavigne' lawyer, said the prosecutors had done "the right thing." "It's
very easy to make allegations in these types of cases. You just say it
happened - Lavigne had denied the allegations from the onset and had said the girl had made up the claims becaus her family did not like him. The girl had claimed he groped her and asked her to have sex with him. She also alleged he made her touch him and had exposed himself to her. When quizzed why she didn't come
forward she told police that she had been scared of Lavigne because he
was a 2nd Dan black belt.
According to the defence lawyer the girl lost credibility because she kept changing her story. She added the
Lavigne was moving on and was: "...going to put his life back together"
