NOVEMBER EDITION KUNG FU INSTRUCTOR CONVICTED OF SEX ASSAULT ON GIRLS By Martial News Reporter A KUNG Fu instructor has been convicted of sexually assaulting two young girls during an anti-rape class.Peter Channell, 60, unclothed the girls, kissed them on their necks and forced them to touch him while telling them that it would happen "for real" when an attacker struck. Channell - the two terrified girls were only nine and 11-years old - also suggested that they tried a technique naked and blindfolded, a crown court heard. He, who was an instructor at the Lee Shan Kung Fu Club, Waterloo, Liverpool, had claimed in defence at Liverpool Crown Court that he was "merely highlighting men's weak points", including the nose, throat and eyes.He was convicted of the four counts of sexual assault by a jury of eight men and four women after his defence was dismissed. Channell's family were reported to have wept as the guilty verdicts were read out one by one. He was bailed by Judge John Phipps to be sentenced on December 10 but was ordered to sign the sex offenders' register immediately. David Owen, prosecuting, said Channell taught the martial art under the “pretence” of helping girls in self defence classes designed to help them fight off attackers. Channell had provided the court with hand-written descriptions of the martial arts moves he claimed he was teaching the girls. But Mr Owen said: "The pages show the detail and degree of deceit in his perverted sexual desires. "Looking at it more closely, it gives a disturbing insight to his approach."
