KARATE CLUB HOSTS OPEN TRAINING COURSE

A KARATE club has hosted an open training course.

Kirkburton Karate Club held the course on behalf of the British Institute of Karate Organisation.

The course saw senior members of BIKO executive committee attend to discuss both the national team and future of the group.

More than 50 members of the association attended the course to learn from the senior instructors, 5th Dan and upwards.

Sensei Colin Hanson, Kirburton club chief instructor and national team coach, was praised by BIKO chief instructor Garth Waldrop. He also praised the students from the club.

Club member Dave Newton, 34, was awarded his first dan black belt after returning to the system after a gap of 15 years.

He re-joined the system after his children took up the sport.
