CYBORG SUSPENDED AND FINED AFTER FAILING DRUG'S TEST
By Martial News Reporter STRIKEFORCE'S featherweight champion Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos has been suspended and fined after failing a drug's test. She was sanctioned by the California State Athletic Commission (CSAC) after she tested postive for stanozolol metabolites at a title defence on Strikefporce's show on December 17th. She has now been fined $2500 (£1600) and suspended one year. Cyborg had faced Hiroko Yamanaka on the show and had won. But the fight bout has now been overturned and declared a no contest, CSAC Executive Officer George Dodd stated in a press release: "Our primary concern is for the health and safety of fighters. "Anabolic agents and other banned substances put not only the users of those agents at risk, but their opponents as well. The commission simply will not tolerate their use." Cyborg knocked out Yamanaka in 16 seconds at the event held at Valley View Casino Center, San Diego, California. It was her third title defence in Strikeforce. She now has the option of appealing the suspension. |
