YOUNGSTER JOINS DAD IN WORLD KICKBOXING CHAMPIONSHIP By Martial News Reporter A YOUNGSTER has been chosen for the Scottish squad which is competiting in the World Kickboxing Association championships. Deklyn Bain, 11, of Drumchapel, Glasgow, will be joining his kickboxing father William at the contest that is being held in Edinburgh in October. A member of the Dumbarton kwoon of the West of Scotland Kung Fu group, Deklyn has been training in kickboxing since he was five-years-old. Dedicated to his art, Deklyn trains four nights a week for three hours. Deklyn said: "I am really happy about going to the world championships, my dad and some friends from my club are also competing. "I'm training hard to keep my fitness up, I’m excited and hope to do well in the challenge." Deklyn has already won a gold and bronze medals in the last two Scottish Championships and won gold a silver medals in the recent Antonine Challenge Kickboxing Tournament held in June and now he is looking to add to his tally in Edinburgh. But he
needs sponsorship and is currently looking for businesses that will

TAEKWONDO COACH GAINS FOUTH DEGREE BLACK BELT A NORTH Taekwondo instructor has been awarded his fourth degree black belt. Rick Simpson, 29, of Silsden, Bradfrord, West Yorkshire, was awarded the belt at a grading held in Nottingham. It was conducted by the British Taekwondo Control Board. Rick is an instructor with Quest Taekwondo Bradford. As a fourth degree he can now hold gradings of his own as a recognised examiner. His test lasted all day and he had to demonstrate his knowledge and skill in sparring, knife defence, patterns (forms) and self-defence. He was recently made into a national class referee and with his fourth degree he can now expand his skills into international refereeing. Quest Taekwondo are based in Bradford, Baildon, Keighley and Cottingley and have sister club run by Chief Instructor Mike McKenzie, 7th Degree black belt. Or visit: www.questbradford.co.uk
