FIRST AID COURSES FOR
MARTIAL ARTS & COMBAT SPORTS

We also supply first aid courses for gyms and clubs. See below.

All first aid courses have an emhasis on the injuries encountered through martial arts and combat sports training and competition.

Courses can be held over one or two days. The medic team will visit your venue to hold the course.

Attendees have the option of doing a full HSE Appointed person at work certificate and have it registered. This can be used on CVs and in the work place to increase employability.

The courses can be mixed so some attendees doing a standard first aid version and others doing an HSE certified version, as the course is the same. The only difference is at the end of the course. Then, as First Aider at Work, you have your certificate official recognised by being registered.  There is a small administrative charge for the registration.

EMERGENCY FIRST AID: APPOINTED PERSON

This course is suitable for anyone in a position that requires them to take charge of an incident where first aid assistance is needed.

These include designated employees for first aid assistance, coaches and instructors, health and safety officers for martial arts groups, charity youth workers and many, many more.

Each participant receives a colourful training manual that they can refer to after the course as well as training aids for the retention of the core skills learned.

They also receive a certificate to say they are Emergency First Aid Trained which can be added to their personal resume.

It is Good Practice for all groups – whether amateur or professional – to have an appointed person for first aid. Not having a qualified first aider can open individuals and groups open to legal action in the event of an accident during classes.

The fact your organisation has an Appointed First Aid Person can be included in your organisation’s literature and publicity materials.

The course lasts between five and six hours with breaks.

Participants learn the principles of first aid, how to manage incidents effectively; how to treat unconscious people; when and how to resuscitate, what to do with some one choking; how to stop bleeding wounds and how to treat burns, and how to do assist a casualty with broken bones and fractures.

FIRST AID AT WORK

Under the Health and Safety Executive (First Aid Regulations Act, 1981) all employers must have a First Aider at work. If you run a professional gym  and have staff , whether coaches or cleaners, you are required to have a First Aider at Work certificated  nominated person.

These two courses are for those who have been nominated by their company as a First Aid Officer.

The courses cover all areas in the legislation and include colour training manuals, certificates and further training material.

FIRST AID AT WORK & FIRST AID AT WORK RE-QUALIFICATION

These courses are suitable for anyone who has been designated as a First Aid Responder for their gym or club company, organisation or group to meet the obligations laid down by the Health and Safety Executive (First Aid Regulations Act, 1981).

Each participant receives a colourful manual and a certificate as well as training materials designed to retain the core skills learned on the course.

The First Aid at Work course is a 24 hour course. The First Aid at Work Re-Qualification course is a 12 hour course.

The Re-Qualification course includes: prevention of cross infection; Anaphylaxis; heart conditions (Angina/Heart Attack/Sudden Cardiac Arrest); Stroke; Head Injuries; Soft Tissue Injuries; Poisons; Epilepsy; Diabetes; Eye Injuries; Legal Requirements; Record Keeping; Casualty Transportation.
